Dance Practices
I lead two monthly SCA dance practices in King County, Washington.
Kirkland, WA
First Thursdays (next: 2 Oct 2025)
You're invited to the Canton of Porte de l’Eau dance practice. We'll learn and perform dances that dancers of all skill levels, from novice to advanced, can enjoy together.
We dance in the Canton on the first Thursday of each month from 7 PM to 9 PM. We do a variety of English, French, and Italian dances that date from about 1450 to 1651. Newcomers (to the SCA and/or to dancing) are always welcome. Most of us will be in modern clothes and comfortable shoes, but garb is always welcome.
This practice is at Trahaearn and Janelyn’s home just south of downtown Kirkland (email me for the specific address). Direct buses run here from UW Link station, Bellevue TC, and Redmond TC.
Seattle, WA
Third Mondays (next: 20 Oct 2025)
Join us at the Barony of Madrone's monthly dance practice from 7 PM to 8:45 PM on the third Monday of each month. We dance at the Madrone Baronial Social site at KapKa Cooperative School, 510 N 49th St, Seattle, WA 98103. Dancers of all skill levels, from experienced dancers to first-time novices, are welcome to attend.
Enter the building from N 49th St (the door is usually locked until 7 PM), cross the gym (where the heavy/rapier practice takes place), go up the stairs, go through the propped-open door, and follow the hallway to find us in the large room with a small kitchen.
At dance practices you get to do a variety of English, French, and Italian dances that date from about 1450 to 1651. Dances are selected each evening based on the interests and abilities of those who attend. Newcomers (to the SCA and/or to dancing) are always welcome. Most participants will be in modern clothes and comfortable shoes, but garb is also welcome.
