Notes

Reconstruction. Playford only calls for one set and turn single in each section of the dance, yet we do two. Why? When the dance was reconstructed in the 1920’s by Cecil Sharp, the second set and turn single was added. Every recording of the music for Rufty Tufty includes the second set and turn single, so unless one has live musicians or creates a recording, one is stuck with the extra set and turn single.

Recordings. Appears on our Courtly Dances of Western Europe as well as several other recordings. Danses Populaires: Very nice. Country Capers: Somewhat brisk, but very nice overall. Dances from the Courts of Europe, vol. 4: nice overall.
